PC Software

I retain the copywright to all of the Peptu related code but grant permission for it to be used free of cost for all non commercial use. If any person or company wishes to use any part of the code in a commercial application they must seek my approval first and I reserve the right to levy a charge appropriate to its use.

At this point in time I am not prepared to release the source code for this project. If you REALLy, REALLY want it you will have to try to convince me that I should let you have a copy, but, without a very compelling reason for requiring it, you may find that difficult to achieve.

The code can be found by selecting Download from the menu.

There are 2 files for the PC code. The first consists of a zip containing just the executable file and should be downloaded by users who already have the VB 6 run-time environment installed. It should be unzipped into a folder of the user's choice and, if it is required that it should be run when Windows starts, a link to it be placed into the Startup folder. The second dowload is a copy of the exe together with the VB 6 run-time files and this download should be used by all users who do not currently have VB6 run-time support installed. This file should be unzipped to a temporary folder and the 'Setup.exe' file run. It will present the user with a 'normal' windows install routine. Again, if required, a link to the exe should be placed into the Startup folder.

The executable file is Peptu.exe which is used to set the module configuration details (number of rows and columns), the serial port to be used (the module provides a USB interface but to the PC system it looks like a serial port), the scroll, wrap and cursor settings. It also allows the user to create a boot display (or displays) and to program them into the hardware interface for subsequent use whenever the module is re-initialised (i.e. the PC is rebooted). The program allows the user to save the user defined boot files to filestore and for them to be donwloaded when required. This feature allows boot displays to be readily changed, for example one display when the system is in use at home and a differnt one when in use at a LAN meet etc. required.

The Help file contains full instructions on how to set-up and use the software.
