LCDHype Software

When I started to use graphics based displays I needed software that would cater for the controllers on the LCD modules that I had purchased on eBAy. I tried most of the available products and although most worked well they did not 'excite' me. Then I discovered LCDHype (www.lcdhype.de.vu) and quickly realised that this product did meet my requirements. It is a very flexible design and has a comprehensive scripting capability that allows users to create display screens providing much of what I considered to be desirable. I realise that some users might require to display data that cannot currently be handled via the existing version of LCDHype but the author is very responsive to requests for improvement / enhancement.

The LCDHype site is predominantly in German but also has an English section and the author (ViRuSTriNiTy) has a good command of the English language and provides a very swift feedback to any issues raised on the board.

Some of the features that persuaded me to adopt LCDHype were:

  • Its ability to communicate with other applications via TCP and UDP.
  • Availability of a driver SDK (C++ and Delphi).
  • Availability of a Plugin SDK (C++ and Delphi).
  • Comprehensive scripting capability that is constantly being enhanced.
  • Very good support from the author.

The first use that I made of the software was to produce a script that facilitated the collection of environmental information from remote systems via a TCP connection. Further details of this can be seen by selecting 'Design Aims' from the menu.
